Growing more than 25% annually, ICS specializes in construction tools. They distribute their products through direct sales as well as distribution partners worldwide. ICS has membership in a variety of trade associations including the following: Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association, National Utility Contractors Association, Specialty Tools and Fasteners Distributors Association, and Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

Concrete chainsaws differ from wood cutting chainsaws in several ways. Wood cutting chainsaws require bar and chain oil for lubrication of the chain; however, concrete chainsaws do not have an oiling system. Instead, concrete chainsaws have a hollow bar water system with a modified air filtration system and special seals to prevent damage to the chainsaw engine from concrete particles. The ICS concrete chainsaw cannot cut dry since it is a wet cutting system.

The diamond chain is also different from wood cutting chains. Instead of sharp hooked teeth, a diamond chain on a concrete chainsaw has very small diamond teeth with no hooks, which grind through the concrete. Because it does not grab like a wood cutting chain, there is no danger of kickback; therefore, the first cut can be straight into the concrete.

The diamond chain also is different in the amount of tension it requires. Unlike wood cutting chains that need to be tight in the bar’s groove, the diamond chain needs to run slightly loose. Although it is normal for the drive links to hang free from the bar, they should not hand more than half an inch from the bar. When it needs to be tightened, you should still be able to pull the diamond chains around the bar by hand when it is at its tightest setting.

Concrete chainsaws can be either gas powered or hydraulic. The hydraulic concrete chainsaws are faster the faster of the two types, but the speed of the cuts will still depend on the material you are cutting, the type of chain being used, the amount of experience the operator has at cutting concrete, and the amount of rebar included in the concrete. These factors will also determine how long the diamond chain will last. For gas powered chainsaws, the chain can last for 40 to 80 linear feet of cutting, while hydraulics can make the chain last almost double that amount. The guide bar usually lasts for two or three chains unless there is a great deal of rebar. Remember that rebar should be fully encased in the concrete to be cut by a concrete chainsaw.

ICS offers on of the best concrete chainsaws on the market. They also have accessories to make the job easier. They include tips on their website to help you keep your saw in good condition and to help you do your job in the best manner.
